Dante Direct but SPOOOKY

BOO! ITS OCTOBER!!!!

So! What’s up?
Well, i have 2 major sections of this update I wanna give! Because it’s bit of a weird one.
First and foremost……

Worlds
I was right, this is simply going to take a while. This is going to take a while for a few reasons. I do not have much time to devote to Dante stuff as I wish I did. If I want to keep myself sane. My Master’s education has been picking up, which i knew was going to happen, so my time is very limited as a result, which isn’t a bad thing. Learning alot, plus having a good time. In addition, I have 2 games I’m running, and one does take more time to prep than Dante, because unlike Dante, I have to write the majority of my notes semi from scratch, I don’t have all of the stuff I’ve written about the system.

What this means is from last update to this update….I’ve gotten done 2 world areas. 2 out of about 9. The reason why this is taking a bit longer is for some areas, it is genuinely my first time fleshing it out more than what I have done before. What I have been doing with the entire GM side is the idea of “front-loading”: figuring out what I am doing as I go along, so when i go back in like a year, it’s just paring or adjusting or editing. This actually has been worth it. I’ve already seen dividends with creating locations I can pull from and use and having an easier time coming up with NPC’s for my own factions.

Of course, when the world’s are done, i get to finally sit back and enjoy the technical side of numbers crunching and adjusting/filling out the gear area for Dante! But this brings us to one last thing…..

Beyond 2.0
What the fuck am I going to do once 2.0 is out?
Well, first and foremost fucking off and taking a long ass nap. After this, I am going to work on House of Tombs stuff, and hopefully get my 1.0 of that shipped out the door. It’s allowed to be a smaller, cruder, project.
But then, I have a different plan. I’ve been thinking alot about art and layout and what I want to do. And I decided, why not try something new?
Alot of Dante and my creative ttrpg projects have been started because I find something I want to infuse passion into. And part of that passion means learning something new almost every single step of the way. Do i want to make mechanics and gear? Well need to learn to use LCP editor

Do I want maps?
Need to learn how to use map software.
Landing pages and patches?
Learn to use my vector program of choice.

What about art and layout? This is going to be alot of work for myself. BUt the goal is 3fold.
1, figure out how the f u ck to use indesign, and actively make a good looking layout for the work. I have hated the fact that I have been just using raw google docs this entire time. I was never good at formatting, but I am going to at least try and learn.

2, I want to learn how to do photo-bashes. For me, photo-bashes are an easier style because simply, I am not an artist, I am not a drawer. So until I either A) get my skills to the quality I want (which would be a journey itself) or B) commission someone (no monies) I’m SOL. That is unless I do photo-bashes. It’s work sure, but I can understand the process. It’s the same as doing a kitbash or anything else.

3, the art I can do. I was an architecture student for a while, this is known. So while I didn’t learn to art good, I did learn how to sketch and convey my ideas. I can sketch environments. Make a lil journal for the project, and experiment to make my own environments that I can use for a while.

I want the field guide to have a bit of a collaged together look. As if all of these different sources are being taken from all of these different places. And I think this approach would work well.

But that’s all for now! See y’all in november (gaht-damn) in which I will probably be like 2 or 3 more planets down.

Maybe this done by the time the new year comes, maybe not, who knows.
